On Saturday 1st April, four members of the East Berks club took part in the Aylesbury tournament.

The best performance of the day came from Evelyn Wansbrough, who finished third in Division D, and is pictured with her trophy.

Wanda de Poitiers finished 10th in Division B, Maureen Barlow was 18th in Division C, and Tricia Walker came 14th in Division D.

Here is the penultimate part of the hooks to the 3 letters words that begin and end with A.

What are the front and back hooks of ANA, AUA ?

Between Friday 3rd and Sunday 5th March, six members of the club took the ferry to the Isle of Wight to take part in the annual tournament there.  The venue was the Trouville Hotel, right on the seafront at Sandown.  The format of the competition was a 10-game league, with promotion and relegation at 'half-time', followed by another 10-game league.  All quite intensive!

Three of the six club members did rather well:

Maureen Barlow came third in Division C in the first part of the tournament, and was promoted to Division B.
Wanda de Poitiers came third in Division B in the second part of the tournament.
And Graham Harding came second in Division A in the second part of the tournament.

The Winter League Season has just finished, and congratulations to Andy and Deborah for winning their respective divisions.

(Tricia Cooper played insufficient games to win Division B)

Points were awarded as follows:

10 points for a win, an extra 10 points if a Division B player beat an A player. 5 point bonus if a player scored more than their average.
