Over the weekend of 6th and 7th June East Berks Scrabble Players played in 2 one day tournaments in Manuden, Essex.
One first day, Helen, Richard and Graham were competing in a division of 24, and all three were in the top half of the division.
Sadly their performances didn't match their starting positions.
It was the sort of the day, when bonuses were infrequently found, high-scoring moves were invariably found by their opponents, coinciding with vowel-heavy or consonant racks held by East Berks players. Consistently scoring points was hard work. Indeed all 3 East Berks players averaged less than 400 per game!
In the end Richard and Graham won 2 games out of 7, and Helen won 3 (and one of those was against Richard!)
And here's the board at the end of the game (please note TASSLED is invalid!):

Not many highlights to report but the best words each player laid or saw included :
Helen played : DESTROYED 83 (played into -ED), DIASPORE 66 VENATIC 92
Best words against ACINOSE 75, MODISTE 73
Richard played : OUTRANCE 61, AENEOUS 74 JAROSET 86
Best words against DOULEIAS 68, BONSELA 109
Graham played: MITTENED 73, EDUCATOR 76. HINTERS 112
Best words against : BACTERIA 80 , INNATIVE 67 and the wonderful PALANQUIN (67) played around AN.

A bad at the office - fingers crossed for a better day tomorrow!
