This quiz is inspired by a word laid recently at East Berks Scrabble Club.

What are the 4 letter words you can make with YIN and a blank. (There are 16 in all).

What are the 5 letter words you can make with YANG and a blank (There are 11 in all).

This quiz is quite hard – so try to find 8-10 words in total. If you find 11-15 well done, and more than 15 is excellent.

Last week we published a World Cup Scrabble Board puzzle. The answers are :

The rack NEWSRIN can be anagrammed to make the apt word WINNERS.

This can be played for 73 points by pluralising MANAGER.

However a higher score can be achieved by playing WINNERS in parallel to GOAL (making GI, ON,AN, and FINALE) this scores 79 points.

The highest non-apt score can be achieved with ANSWERING, as a double-double using the A of SAVE and G of GOAL. Well done if you spotted this 108 point move!

To mark the World Cup Final today (and coincidentally the Wimbledon finals too), here is a board diagram.

Two questions :

1 - What is the highest scoring sport-related word you can play on this board with the rack NEWSRIN. (No football knowledge is required!)

2 - What is the highest scoring non-sport-related word you can play on this board with the rack NEWSRIN (ie a word that doesn't fit the theme).

Answers in a few days.

Good luck.

The final vocabulary quiz today, based on the one team that hasn't had a quiz or answer set about it : AUSTRALIA.

What are the 4 letter words you can make from the letters in AUSTRALIA ?

There are a lot, so to narrow it down (and make it harder, sorry!), the 4 letter words must contain 2 As.

There are 15 words in total :

-  3 are everyday words

- another 3 are plurals of 3 letter words

so a score of 3-6 is achievable.

If you get more than 10 well done!
