On Saturday April 13th, three Scrabblers from East Berks Scrabble Club ventured for a one day tournament in Aylesbury.

Evelyn played in Division C and won 3 games out of 7. Maureen also won 3 out of 7 in Division B.

Also in Division B, Richard Spencer came second winning 5.5 out of 7, narrowly losing out to first place in the very final round of the tournament.

Well done to all competitors.

During late March/early April we had to restore various articles from backup.

We would like to thank Richard Porter for his hard work in restoring our news items.

We are aware a couple of news items are still missing and those that we have restored may be slightly out of chronological order. We hope that this doesn't spoil your enjoyment of our website. If you want more information about an news item you think in missing please contact us immediately and we will be happy to help (see contact page).

Photos will be re-loaded retrospectively.

Best improver for the 2nd quarter of the year is Frank Charlesworth, ahead of Deborah Porter and Hannah Corbett.

Over the weekend of the 17-18 March 5 East Berks Scrabble players went around the M25 to play in two different tournaments in Manuden.

The first day’s tournament was a Round-Robin with divisions of 8. Wanda successfully won her division.

On the second day, the tournament style was more open, with two large divisions. Maureen came 4th in Division 2, with Tricia winning a ratings prize in the same division.

Well done to all prizewinners.

On Sunday, 10th March, six members of East Berks Scrabble Club travelled to Swindon to take part in the Rotary Open Scrabble Championship of Wiltshire, held at the spacious headquarters of the Nationwide Building Society.

It was a successful day, with Wanda de Poitiers winning Division B, with 6 wins out of 7 games, and Hepzi Rodrigues winning Division C, also with 6 wins out of 7 games, and Tricia Walker in second place with 4 wins from 7 games.

Wanda qualifies for the National Scrabble Championship finals, to be held in the autumn, as does Helen Harding, who finished ninth in Division A with 4 wins from 7 games.
